It has its original red mount around the image - and is then framed. The frame is a more modern frame. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn stylistic grounds, it probably dates to the early 20th century. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis one features a full-length portrait of a man seated on the ground - he is in contemplation. He sits below a leafy tree and a landscape setting. He is leaning back against two large decorative cushions. He is sitting crossed legged on the ground and has a string of mala beads which he uses in his meditation and prayers. He has a fine white shirt that is sheer and falls over his baggy striped trousers. He wears a turban which fleck of gold on it. The composition has little flicks of gold across the whole picture. The man medatating is a scholar - and in front of him are books, an ink well and pen holder. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe landscape is also reflective. The sky has fluffy clouds at the upper margin. The central distance has green fields receding into the distance. The foreground is a white colour. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe frame is a later one - but it looks just fine on the little artwork. It is a nice clean painting- all ready to hang on your wall. I have taken lots of images so you can see all the details in the work. It will look lovely on display.  There is a little ripple to the paper but not noticeable when the work is hung.
