indian-art-vintage-pair-of-indian-miniature-watercolours-gentleman-and-lady
INDIAN ART: Vintage PAIR of Indian Miniature Watercolours Featuring a Gentleman and a Lady

This is a decorative and quite delicate pair of antique Indian miniature watercolour paintings.

On stylistic grounds, they probably dates to the early 20th century. The are painted on a little sliver of panel - which I think is an ivorine material.

Each little painting is very sweet with a fine attention to detail. The frames are later ones and not original to the little paintings.

The watercolours feature a young couple looking out towards each other - they may have been made to celebrate a betrothal. The gentleman is showin in a fine yellow flared tunic and wearing checked blue trousers below. The tunic is decorated with tiny dots. The man also wears a scarf belt, a sash and headress with a little black feather to the front. These are all embellished with gold. He also wears a string of tiny white pearls around his neck and another on his arm. He has blue slippers. He is holding a plate shaped object. There is a delicate tree behind him.

The lady stands in a similar landscape with a wispy tree behinds her. She also wears a flared tunic or dress - but her one appears to be more transluscent so you can see through it to her lilac underskirt. She also wears a long scarf as a decorative belt, and this is also embellished with gold. She wears similar blue pointed slippers as those worn by her companion. She has a short cropped top and long veil or headress. She has two thick Indian bracelets, highlighted with gold. She holds an exotic bloom in her hand - and is in the process of presenting it to the man on the other image.

The features on both figures are so delicately drawn.

Both little artworks are in good antique condition - they might benefit from a different frame - but they are nice enough just to hang on your wall as they are.

Dimensions: The Gentleman. Frame size is 21 x 16.5 cm. The image size is 9.5 x 5.3 cm. The Lady. Frame size is 21 x 16.5 cm. The image size is 9.5 x 5.3 cm. So an exact pair!

I am listing these priced at £65 each little watercolour painting. I have taken lots of images for your inspection.

The will be sent to you with Royal Mail 24-Tracked and Signed for Post.
