I would suspect around the 1950s, perhaps even a little earlier in date.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey wobble about from side to side as if they are dancing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese wee figures are marked to the base: FOREIGN, which was often marked on Japanese or German pieces of pottery after WWII.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese are little novelties - and take the form of a little Dutch Boy and Girl. I think that these ones are probably Japanese in origin.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey are not traditional \"nodder\" as such - as their heads do not nod up and down - but the mechanism is the same and this wee couple instead sway from side to side. Not sure if the pin has been replaced later on - but there is the head of a little glass pin holding the movement mechanism in place as you can see in my photographs.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach figure is made of bisque pottery - with has a Royal Blue over-painted glossy glaze on the clothes - and wee blush tinted face and hair.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn good condition with no damages. These little \"nodder\" type figures are now quite hard to find - and my asking price for this pair is a fair one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHeight: about 3 3\/4 inches in height. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe wee figurines will be sent with Royal Mail (Small Parcel) postage.
