This is a highly collectable piece of mid-century Hornsea pottery.
It was designed by John Clappison in 1959 - and is a very large example, with an overall height of 13 3/4 inches and with a diameter of 5 inches at its widest part.
Unpacked it is 1.2 kg in weight.
It has as white-cream coloured eggshell glaze - which is decorated all over with an impressed atomic pattern - in a wine or claret red colour.
It has the old Studiocraft mark on the base.
The vase is in very good vintage with no cracks or cracks - nice and clean inside. There is a little craquelure to a wee area of the glaze on the base - near to the backstamp mark - I have photographed this for your inspection.
These 1950s Clappison pieces are highly sought after and this is reflected in my asking price. This vase has been in my own personal collection at home for many years.
