It has been very easy to date this one - as it all has an oblong cane on the base which reads JD 2011 with a wee Saltire on each side. It also has its original paper label on the base.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe paperweight is a nice ball shape - with lacework latticino strands of white, peach and pink glass - these run from the center of the back and end at the top. The canes meet at the top and are covered with a large Deacon's pale pink rose cane (surrounded by a green sectional  band).  It is a more unusual paperweight by him and I cannot find another identical to it - perhaps it is a prototype design. It reminds me a little of a sea urchin.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is in pristine condition with no condition issues.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe paperweight measures 2 3\/4 inches in diameter and with a height of 2 1\/4 inches. The town has a long history of art glass manufacturing starting over 50 years ago in 1964 with Strathearn Glass, followed by Perthshire paperweights in 1968, J Glass in 1978 and finally Deacons Glass in 1980.  \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 0.875rem;\"\u003eJohn started as an apprentice with Strathearn Glass in 1967 but within a year was asked by the manager Stuart Drysdale to join his Perthshire Paperweights start-up team.
