It is made up of six thick angular panels of glass - all of which are bevelled at the edges. The decoration on each of these panels consists of busy pressed floral patterns. These cover all of the surface - apart from sharp diamond sections on each side which are polished clear and are without pattern. It is very dynamic.

To really gild the lily, Etling has set the body section on a thick square plinth - and added lots of little turtles or tortoises sitting on their back legs and holding up the bowl.
