Yellow Painted Eyes. 12 1/2 inches

These are a fine large-sized pair of antique Victorian Staffordshire dogs. They take the form of a pair of seated chimney spaniels. They are genuine Victorian examples, and definitely not reproductions.

They are nicely modelled examples and are a properly matched pair, as created.

Each dog has a little gold-coloured collar with a padlock on it. The padlock and chain on each dog have some rubbing and losses to the gilding, but this is common in these old Victorian examples. There is a lot of the original gold gilding left on the dog's fur. They have painted yellow eyes, as issued. I love the big curly tails on these ones.

Dimensions: The height is 12 1/2 inches.

They are fine display pieces and will look fabulous on a mantlepiece or old-fashioned kitchen dresser. They are generally in good antique condition. There is a little firing crack where the moulds meet along the head of one dog and a wee scuffing of the glaze on one at the back (all as photographed). This is all commensurate with age - and will not be seen on display. This is reflected in my lower asking price for this fine large pair.

The pair will be carefully packed and posted to you with Royal Mail Medium Parcel, Tracked (Heavy). This will be applied to your order at the checkout.

Code: 24/ 2A and 24/ 2B.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0271/1902/6240/files/1880s-victorian-staffordshire-dogs-chimney-spaniels-wally-dugs-yellow-painted-eyes-12-1-2-inches-figure-905.webp?v=1791208746
https://www.iconicedinburgh.co.uk/products/large-staffordshire-dogs-chimney-spaniels-wally-dugs-antique-pair-yellow-eyes-1880-1
