This is a stunning large diamante or rhinestone brooch which dates to the 1950s, if not slightly earlier.
It is a very dramatic piece of costume jewellery - and certainly a very well made vintage piece.
It is quite abstract in form, almost like a large fancy bow, with three conjoined circles and in each circle a raised stylised flower - and in the very center of the brooch where the circles all meet - there is another raised flower.
Issuing from below are three articulated and stepped fringes.
All the stones are present and shine brightly. They look slightly yellower in my photographs than they are on the real piece.
There is a large pin to the back and it is chrome plated. The raised flowers are strengthened by the addition of an undulating wire on the back (a mark and detail showing its quality of making).
Length from top of the brooch to bottom of the longest drop is about 3 1/4 inches.
This is certainly a statement piece - and would look great on the shoulder of a little black dress for a formal evening event or cocktail party.
