This is a cute little book which was published in 1867. It is titled Punch's Pocket Book - and is a little diary with lots of additional illustrations, humourous essays and a variety of features and texts which you could easily read whilst in transit to pass time.
It measures 5 x 4 inches - and has a coloured 4 sheet fold-out illustration at the front - which measures 9 x 5 inches. The illustration is entitled: The Matrimonial Arrangement Association (ltd). It is a little original etching - which has been hand-coloured at the time of publication with watercolour.
Love some of the wee articles and facts: these include topics such as the Queen's Household (ie Queen Victoria); Officers of State in Scotland; Army Agents, the Bank of England, Governors of Colonies, Moveable Feasts and Noon's Phases; Post Office Regulations; Songs for Jovial Teetotallers; Model Love-Letters etc.
It a first edition - and bound in a soft black leather case with a leather tongue which keeps the book closed. The edges of the paper are gold gilt.
It is in good condition - and the interior contents are all present with no inscriptions, or scribbling to the inside.
A very smart and collectable copy of this little pocket book. The books were published between 1843 and 1881.
