Both are in good condition with labels on their feet.

Wellings' dolls are usually made entirely of cloth (felt, velvet and velveteen), and represent children and adults, as well as storybook characters. Welling was one of Britain's most celebrated maker of textile dolls. They were made from the 1920s right up to the 1950s. They had hand-painted expressive faces. The Wellings factory was based at the Victoria Toy Works in Wellington, Shropshire. The most popular and easist Wellings dolls to source today are her small souvenir sailor dolls.

She began her career in 1919 working with Chad Valley, one of Britain’s most respected toy manufacturers. By 1926, along with her brother, she had set up her own factory. The company produced fabric dolls for over three decades and the factory closed in 1959 when all production ceased.

My two dolls are now hard to source - they date to the late 1930s and are a larger size. They depict two little Turkish children shown in National Costume. My dolls are in good vintage condition, sadly not pristine - but they are nearly 100 years old. But as far as examples go - they are still very nice ones.

Condition: there is some minor and natural fading to the fabric, There is one little moth hole on the yellow felt of the shoe of the boy wearing the fez, as photographed, and a near visible loss on the back of his jacket. I have photographed all these areas for you. He has some minor squasking to his face. He has he original fez, and scarf around his waist. He has mother of pearl buttons. Being an early model he comes with brown glass eyes. Height is about15 inches.

The another doll - not sure if it a girl? - but think it is a boy with a long mohair wig. That one seems devoid of any nibblings! Both have the original cloth Norah Welling labels on their feet. The doll has a little jacket with gold ball buttons and mother of pearl buttons on his undershirt. The doll retains its original beaded bangles, mother of pearl buttons on his trouers and waistbandand scarf. Again, another doll with glass eyes. Younger brother is slightly smaller in size: about 13 1/2 inches.

These examples are rare - and even with expected minor condition problems - I have listed them at a fair price.

I will send them to you with Royal Mail Medium Parcel Tracked.
