Hand Painted Scotch Thistles

A small antique teapot. It is certainly a little gem. This is a rare miniature Rosslyn Ware teapot made in Kirkcaldy, Fife. It comes from the pottery of Morrison & Crawford. The pottery is better known for its large mottled stoneware farmhouse kitchen storage crocks.

This is a pretty collector's teapot, and with its dedication "Frae Grantshouse", it was probably manufactured in the 1920s as a souvenir gift for tourists visiting Scotland. Grantshouse is a small village in Berwickshire in the Scottish Borders of Scotland.

The wee pot has two hand-painted thistles to the front and another single one to the back. It has a deep lid that fits snuggly into the main body of the teapot.

Carl Nekola, son of Karel Nekola, worked at the pottery from 1922 until 1926, At this time they introduced whiteware, using imported clays, which was decorated in the Wemyss style but called Rosslyn Ware. (as you can see here in my wee pot). The pottery ceased trading in the early 1930s.

These little pots are exceptionally rare. This one is 100 years old and is inexcellent condition with no chips or cracks. It also has its attractive Scottish thistle design. This is robably a little piece for the more specialist collector of work from the Fife Potteries.

The pot will be sent to you with Royal Mail (Small Parcel) Tracked postage. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0271/1902/6240/files/scottish-pottery-1920s-morrison-crawford-rosslyn-ware-miniature-teapot-hand-painted-scotch-thistles-224.webp?v=1791373448
https://www.iconicedinburgh.co.uk/products/scottish-pottery-1920s-morrison-crawford-rosslyn-ware-teapot-scotch-thistles
