Like the other ones signed GLA. It probably dates to the 1920s or 1930s, and was decorated by one of the Scottish Lady Decorators or Painters.

At this time, local Scottish potteries in Glasgow and ones in Edinburgh such as Bough or Makmerry engaged ladies to hand decorate blank pieces made by larger factories or firms. The blanks are not usually marked but you often find the monogram or name of the lady artist painted on the base. These ones are signed on the back GLA or GSA.

This one in particular reminds me of similar designs done at Bough , although it is not marked as originating there.

This is certainly a fine and unique plate. The background is painted liberally with a purple colour onto which is painted a wreath of yellow fruits with green pointed leaves. The colours of the fruits contrast splendidly with the background shade. It is in lovely antique condition with no chips or cracks.

Dimensions: The diameter is just over 9 inches.

I have taken a few images for your inspection. These are unique pieces of old Scottish Art Pottery

UK Postage will be with Royal Mail Tracked Post.
