She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Glass and Ceramics. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eLinstead initially set up her studio in Sunderland in 1989 but moved to Coldstream, Berwickshire in 1992. In 1991 she was awarded a Gold Medal by the Prince's Youth Business Trust and in 1992 was awarded 1st Place New Designer Gift Award by the Giftware Association. Julia’s glass features unique etchings that mostly focus on floral patterns. The floral motifs are carefully selected according to the shape and colour of vessels and vases. The glassware is hand-blown by the Scottish glass artist,  Jane Charles, with whom Julia collaborates. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIt is a hand-blown glass bowl - I\u003c\/span\u003et features an attractive floral design etched into a beautiful piece of amethyst glass. This stunning rich purple-coloured shallow bowl is decorated with a single large lily flower head. It is so beautifully delineated and all the petals look so life-like. The pattern has been hand-drawn by Linstead and sandblasted into the surface of the glass, so it is a completely unique piece of art glass.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSince setting up in Scotland, Julia has shown her work in several exhibitions in Scotland, England, and San Francisco.
