This is a piece of British studio glass.
It was made by the glass artist, Jane Charles, and is one of two similar weights by her that I have in my Iconic Edinburgh online store
The glass takes the form of a discus-shaped paperweight. The central core is made up of tangled red, black and white swirls - and there is a surrounding band of thick clear glass.
It has been hand-blown by Charles and has a rough pontil mark on the base and her etched signature.
The paperweight is 4 inches in diameter and is 1 1/2 inches in height.
Unpacked it weighs 700 grams.
It is in good vintage condition with no damages - there is one wee air bubble in the clear rim section (in the making) which you can see in my images.
Jane Charles was born in Edinburgh in 1961. is now based in Newcastle but originally set up her glass studio in Edinburgh in 1987. This weight dates to her time in Edinburgh.
It is in excellent vintage condition with no damages.
Listed at a very fair price for a unique work by this glass artist.
