This is an exceptionally fine piece of Poole Pottery.
It is a unique hand-painted piece from the Studio Pottery range - and these pieces were often one-off productions.
This lovely fine plate was designed to be hung on the wall.
It is 8 inches in diameter.
It is marked to the back with the Studio Mark - there is no maker's or decorator's mark on the back. There is a bit of a mark to the back - down in the making - like a fingerprint covered with paint and catching the back unnoticed and then glazed. There is also a bit of a yellow tint (in the making) to the rim of the plate on the back.
The blue backstamp on the back dates the plate to the early 1960s.
The front is a beautiful hand-painted and unique design with no condition issues.
It is certainly a very painterly example, as you can see in my photographs.
Just the stray smudge to the back - but no chips or cracks. If you are planning to display it on your wall - you won't bother so much about the stray mark.
The unique nature of these Studio pieces is reflected in my asking price.
