I have had all of these for a very long time - and just found in a box all packed away - so they are completely fresh to the market. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey all date to the 1930s \/ 1940s at the latest. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis set consists of the rare glass cocktail shaker or drinks decanter. It matches the six little shot glasses that come with it to form a set. The decoration is all hand-painted with enamels.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese are quite rare survivors and perhaps not to everyone's taste today. The subject looks back to 19th century pursuits - that of cock fighting. C\u003cspan\u003eockfighting was banned in England and Wales in 1835 and later in Scotland 1895, way before these glasses were made. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt at first seems a strange subject to put on glasses - but their is a historical precedent with them. The \u003cspan\u003eglasses tell the story of a cock fight beginning with the meeting of two birds, the fight, and ending with the victory of the single cock. There is a theory that the term cocktail is linked to spiked or adulterated drinks that were served at these cockfights. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe cocktail shake comes with its original cork and metal pourer  - it fits snuggly into the glass section and is nice and clean - I dont think that it has ever been used - and probably just kept on display. The front of the shake shows two birds facing up for the challenge - and on the back the victorious cock all puffed up in victory. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe glasses do not have matching patterns - as they tell the story of the event with different stages of the fight on them. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAll the items here are in good vintage condition - there are no damages or chips. All the paintwork to the images is in good condition. It is an interesting and historical set - they certainly do not make these today.
