This is a great collectable vintage child's tin drum.
It dates to the late 1940s. It is not annotated with any maker's name - but it is certainly a good quality one and British Made.
The design features lots of little images of soldiers playing drums, a gun-carriage, a toy pull-along horse - and a soldier playing a bugle with a banner hanging below with the letter V on it - which I think is the letter representing victory. This helps me to date this wee toy drum to just after the end of the war - and late 1940s. There is also a naive representation of a castle flying English flags - I think that the castle might be Dover Castle. I have taken photographs of all the details for your inspection.
I like how details of the ropes that you might find on a real drum have been printed on the toy one.
The drum is in fine vintage condition - some signs of wear but no nasty dents. The condition can probably be described as commensurate with age and use. It certainly would look good on display.
It is nice and clean - and I have replaced the old string (it has rather grubby) with an appropriate new one. It comes without the original drumsticks - these would often go missing, and perhaps a blessing (noise wise!) not to have them.
The drum measures: 7 1/2 inches in diameter and has a height of 4 1/2 inches.
