vintage-1970s-gold-tone-metal-table-lamp
1960s Fabulous & Substantial Tall Skyscraper Gold-Tone Metal Table Lamp

This is a really fabulous vintage late 1960s or early 1970s table lamp or desk lamp. My photographs certainly do not to it justice!

It is a beautiful space-age minimalistic design and has a stylish geometric form. The shape of the lamp reminds me a little of the supertall skyscraper, the John Hancock Center in Chicago. The skyscraper was completed in 1969, at the time the second tallest building in the world and the tallest outside of New York.

So, you can say that my lamp is the late 60s skyscraper of desk lamps. It is exceptionally tall and heavy and would be a feature piece in any mid-century modern interior.

The lamp takes the form of a tall rectangular pillar which has a curved section sliced out on each side and decorated with a burnished satin finish. The sides and base below the burnished sections are a nice rose-tone and shiny.

A great bulb fitting too, as you can see in my photographs.

It has been very tricky to photograph this amazing lamp with its subtle facets and to get an idea of the exceptional height and weight of it.

It has its original fitment for a vintage shade but sadly the original shade no longer survives. Image what it will look like with a tall, slender drum-shaped replacement shade... yowzah!

The lamp measures 24 inches (61 cm) in height to the top of the bulb holder. The base is 5 inches square. Unpacked it is a stonking 5 kg in weight. It has its original little finger switch so that you can turn it on and off easily.

I was very tempted to keep this lamp as it is just so uber stylish, but my house is just so busy decor-wise that I would not do it justice on display. It would need a more minimalistic interior and to be a feature showstopper item!

There are no maker's marks on the lamp but it is certainly a quality piece. I have been unable to find another quite like it. A fabulous vintage lamp, you certainly will not be disappointed with it - try to find another one!

Postage would have to be with Parcelforce24. This would be applied to your order at the checkout.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0271/1902/6240/files/1960s-fabulous-substantial-tall-skyscraper-gold-tone-metal-table-lamp-vintage-451.webp?v=1790760126
