This is a lovely piece of vintage mid-century Cornish pottery.
It was from a range designed by Bill and Maggie Fisher at Celtic Pottery, Newlyn in Cornwall.
It is the popular Phoenix bird design - and the vase is hand-decorated with a strange bird creature - who is ascending re-born from a fire. The orange glow in the background represents the heat from the flames.
The same images appear front and back of the vase.
There is the remnants of a paper label on the base, as photographed.
This is a classic piece of mid-century British art pottery, and it is always a popular design with collectors.
It is a more unusual shape with its sloping neck section.
Dimensions: Height is 7 inches and the diameter at the widest is 3 1/2 inches.
CONDITION: It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There is a little area of time-related craquelure to one area of the glaze near the neck - which you cant see on display - but only with the aid of a magnifying glass mentioned here for accuracy. This is reflected in my asking price.
UK postage will be with Royal Mail Recorded parcels - and this will be charged at £4.95 and applied atthe checkout stage.
