Tribal Design","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis is a fine piece of vintage Danish stoneware pottery. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is a lovely oval shallow bowl with an abstract pattern like you might find on an African tribal shield. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt was made at Bornholm in Denmark by Michael Andersen and Sons. The tribal design is a rarer one and I have been unable to find another like this. It might have been made on stylistic grounds by Marianne Starck as part of her tribal range of ceramics. With the signature being in-filled on the back, it is difficult to confirm this with complete certainty. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAll the decoration is unique and has been hand-painted.  It has an incised mark on the bottom for Michael Andersen (three herrings in a shield), impressed Denmark, and numbers (rather illegible as filled in with the glaze) as photographed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bowl is just over 6 1\/2  inches wide and 11 inches long.
