When Paul left Caithness in 1971 to set up his studio at Harland, William joined him in the new business. After Harland closed in 1974, he returned to Caithness where he stayed until setting up William Manson Paperweights Studio in 1997. Sadly William Manson Snr passed away in 2025. His work is continued by his son William and family from there studio in Stirling. They continue his legacy with the production of stunning limited edition paperweights.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is marked on the base: Caithness Sotland with the weight title: Daisy \u0026amp; Ladybird. It is No. 40 - out of a planned edition of 250 weights. The edition actually closed at only 89 weights being issued. It dates to 1990. It is classified as CT-758.  It had an opening price when first on sale of £185 - so always a much sought after special Manson weight.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe weight has a clear golden-amber ground which is decorated with a large single bloom. The white daisy is a large one with a yellow center. The bloom is on a lime green stem with two wee leaves to the left - and an unfurled bud to the right. At the junction of the leaves and stem there sits a little fat ladybird which is all complete with tiny eyes and spindly legs. It is caught in time - forver\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eT\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ehere is a polished slightly concave viewing facet on the top of the weight and a further five facets around the outside which create an optical illusion that there are more blooms when seen from the side - than are actually there.  \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is not signed as being by William Manson. This is not an unusual occurrence, as many of his weights made at Caithness often devoid of a signature or his WM cane.   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is a fabulous and rare weight - and looks amazing on display.
