This is an unusual vintage mid-century tall table lamp.
It is in the shape of a large Genie-shaped bottle - and is textured all over.
I love the abstract pattern on the band near the center and repeated near the top. The texture is very much of its period too - and reminds me of textured wallpaper - which I hear it making a comeback!
The shape, texture, and more especially the gold-tone metal base - make me think that this vintage 1950s - 60s table lamp might have been made by the Quartite Creative Corp Lighting company. These often (but not always) have an embossed mark on the base - my one does not have any maker's marks on it that I can see.
These large textured / abstract genie lamps seem to originate in the States and would have been popular accent lighting in many late 50s / early 60s trendy apartments.
These lamps are not without some delicacy - they are made of a composition chalkware / soft ceramic type of material and are often found chipped or all scuffed on the surface. My one is in very good vintage condition with no chips or losses to it. You don't see that many of them that are in this fine condition for sale in the UK these days.
This one would look great with the addition of a large simple beige drum shade or with a shade picking out one of the colours in the abstract pattern.
Dimensions: The lamp is 17 inches in height - and is 6 1/4 inches at the widest post. The diameter of the metal base section 5 1/2 inches. It has a good bit of weight to it - and unpacked it is 2.5 kg in weight.
It would have to be sent to UK addresses only and this would cost £10 with Parcelforce48 tracked and recorded.
As mentioned - now hard to find these old lamps in the UK - so my price is a fair one.
