This is a one-off piece of studio pottery.
It dates to the 20th century., but looks back to earlier antique shapes for inspiration.
It is a very sturdy pot - and all hand made.
It is made from a red / terracotta clay body with a dark olive green glaze.
There are some incised Japanese inspired motifs near to the base - which you can see in the image of the pot being held in my husband's hand.
It is 8 inches from spout to handle - and has a height of 4 1/2 inches.
Studio Pottery Stoneware Teapot with red clay body and dark olive green glaze and simple Japanese inspired decoration
Ht 4 ½ inches Spout to Handle – 8 inches – Black incised abstract decoration.
In excellent condition with no damages.
Sadly - I cannot think a maker's mark on this fine teapot, but it is possibly Scottish in origin / perhaps Winchcombe.
