Awe - isn't this the sweetest wee display plate !

It shows three little Scottish terrier dogs - possibly a West Highland, a Cairn, and a Scottie.

It was made (probably around the 1940s) by Aynsley China - as with this green back stamp on the reverse.

It is based on a very famous print by the celebrated animal artist, Lilian Cheviot - this is titled Scots Tried And True - the name has been changed on the plate to the Glengarry Boys!

Lilian Cheviot (c. 1876 - 1936) was an English painter who flourished from 1894 to 1924. She lived in South Molesey in Surrey and exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1895 and 1899.

This is a very rare plate - and I haven't seen another with the motif on it.

The design is transfer printed and then hand-coloured. The plate measures some 7 inches in diameter.

It is in very good vintage condition - no cracks, chips, or craquelure - just a tiny couple of scratches to the surface of the black doggie - please check this in close up.

A very fair asking price for such a pretty plate - as well as such a rare one by a quality maker.

UK Postage will be with Royal Mail Recorded Post. This will cost £4.95 and applied to your order at the checkout.
