This is a fine tall vintage Okra Glass vase.
It dates to the 1980s. It is marked Okra Glass on the base. This one is signed by Richard Goulding. It is very similar in decoration and style to other pieces I have for sale - but those were made by Dave Barras.
It is a much larger piece of Okra Glass. The company was owned and run by Richard Golding, and it produced mainly iridescent glass. It has been in continuous production since 1979
This vase is certainly a most wonderful and highly skilled piece of late 20th-century studio glass.
It has been inspired by similar earlier 20th-century favrile designs made by Tiffany - which are also decorated with little white cherry blossoms and have the same sort of elongated shape and beautiful peacock lustres. Of course, these Tiffany vases are very much more expensive than these later Okra versions by Goulding.
This one is totally delightful. It is an inky Royal Blue colour with lots of iridescent lustres and Goulding has applied a pictorial image around the main body section - which represents the green mottled leaves and flower blossoms of a cherry tree - fine black trails are applied to represent the branches. There is certainly much skill in the making and it is very much a unique piece by a master glass artist.
The height of the vase is 9 3/4 inches - and the diameter at the widest point is about 4 inches. The diameter of the foot is just over 3 1/4 inches.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection - these will give you an idea of all the exquisite details in this top-quality piece of Okra. It certainly looks even better in "real life".
