This is an unusual smaller size handbag or handled purse.
It dates to the 1940s or 1950s - and it has lettering inside on the lid which reads: GENUINE ALLIGATOR / HECHO EN CUBA.
It has a vintage handcrafted feel to it - it is a simple wee bag with no internal pockets etc.
Love all the little leather stitching to the edges - and to the base as a decorative detail. The base section is rigid and not soft in its finish.
All nice and clean - and in good condition.
The little alligator head on the lid has little realistic glass eyes as photographed. Yikes - all those wee teethies!
This bag is now 70 years old - and has historical connotations - I certainly don't condone the practice being continued today - this is being sold as more of a piece of social history. I would not sell modern pieces.
There is a little brass toggle to the front for opening and closing the little bag.
The handle is short and for you to clutch - and certainly not a shoulder strap.
Dimensions: rough diameter is 5 inches. The height of the bag (main body) is about 3 1/4 inches.
The length of the handle is about 6 inches drop.
