This pretty vintage 1970s silver hallmarked pendant. It was made for Caithness Glass Jewellery (CJ mark) - and has a tiny millefiori glass gem as an embellishment.
It is a more unusual shape.
The pendant has been photographed without a chain - but I will attach it to a silver chain before sending to you.
It has an Edinburgh Hallmark - and the letter Q - for the year 1971. It is also stamped CJ for Caithness Jewellery.
Dimensions: The overall length of the pendant section is 4.8 cm - and at its widest, it is 2.7 cm. The chain is 2 mm wide - and has a length of 18 cm.
As you can see from my images - it is in lovely vintage condition. And is nice and clean. It is listed at a fair price given it comes with its original box.
HISTORY: These pieces of silver jewellery were initially Paul Ysart’s idea. He had been making small ‘stones’ and setting them into cheap jewel fittings as presents for friends and family.
Caithness Glass saw the commercial potential in them and put Colin Terris in charge of further development. The range was officially launched in December 1970. Colin Terris designed a range of brooches and pendants inspired by traditional Scottish designs (such as the Luckenbooth shape) and hired Lucia Polanski as jewellery designer; she produced the rings, earrings, and cufflinks designs.
