This is a very fine pair of vintage early 1960s Celtic design cufflinks.
They were made by the celebrated Scottish silversmith, John Hart, and are marked on the back with his monogram. They are not hallmarked but are marked SILVER and also IONA.
The cufflinks each have a lozenge decorated with Celtic Knotwork and the other section is an inset oval cabochon made from carnelian agate. They come in a delightful old cufflinks box for the retailer Henry Tatton & Son, Edinburgh.
John Hart was a highly renowned jeweler working from the 1940s to 1960s. He produced high-quality Scottish jewellery on the Isle of Iona. These lovely pieces are finely crafted and of excellent quality. My sleeve links are in excellent condition, are clean, and ready to wear.
The dimension of each link is approximately 1.6 cm in length by 1 cm in length (silver link) and the agate link is 1.8 x 1.4 cm.
These lovely vintage items by John Hart are much sought-after - and this is reflected in my asking price.
