This is a very unusual and quirky vintage textile.
It is a large framed needlepoint tapestry - that features a rather naive stitched image of some a selection of Britsh freshwater fish swimming about in a river or lake.
There is a wee label saying that this was made by an artist called Rosemary Ross / S & L Manby - who lived near Wootton in Staffordshire.
It probably dates to around the 1970s or 1980s. It is a fine large needlepoint work - which must have taken a long time to make. It is made up of lots of tiny stitches (as photographed). The colours of the threads are nice and vibrant with no signs of fading. It is in good vintage condition - and in the right setting will look just stunning.
Framed up it measures 35 x 53 cm
I have another much larger needlepoint by the same artist in my store - which features a very vibrant image of tropical fish.
It is rather kitsch - and would look fabulous hanging in a child's bedroom or nursery - or perhaps in a seaside cottage or holiday rental apartment as a decorative feature.
It is nice and clean with a glazed wooden frame.
It is being sold at a come and get me price of only £75 - which is a fair price for this quirky vintage textile. You certainly won't find another like it.
