These are more unusual vintage early 1970s Portable Space Age Kitchen Scales by Terraillion, They are model PL350 and they came in two colours - this red shade and another version in blue.
They are so stylish and designed by the Italian Architect, Marco Zanuso in 1969.
They are in good condition. Nice and Clean, with no damages. I have had these packed away in the loft for the last 20 years - and have never used them.
The scales consist of a main scarlet red body section. This has the measuring scale on the front. A smoky grey container sits on the plastic spike on the top and when you put contents inside - it presses down and the arrow on the measuring scale at the side moves down to give you the weight of the contents. When not in use the red body section sits inside the clear grey cap. I think that this originally came boxed and also had a little flat round plastic plate that also fitted in the top - sadly this is missing - but this does not affect the functionality.
It was made in France - and this is all detailed on the base, as photographed.
Dimensions: the overall height with the measuring container in place is 10 inches. The main red body dimensions are 5 3/4 inches x 4 inches x 2 inches. The measuring cup is 4 1/4 inches in length by 3 inches in height and just over 2 inches in width.
Terraillion Scales are Hot Collectibles - these scales are certainly harder to find. This is reflected in my asking price for them. They are probably more for the specialist collector of space-age plastic designs from the early 70s.
