This is an attractive LARGE 1970s paperweight.
It is unsigned but undoubtedly it has been made by Mdina in Malta
It has a lovely striped pattern with little speckles ochre yellow dots and diagonal streaks - set in a bright blue glass body - like the sand and the sea and taken from colours found in the Maltese landscape.
The paperweight resembles a sea urchin.
Dimensions: Height is 3 inches. And the diameter at the widest point is just over 3 1/4 inches.
The weight unpacked: 825 grams.
It is in excellent condition, with no damages. There are some tiny and very fine scratches on the base - created where the weight has been lifted up and placed down for over 50 years (as photographed in close-up). These are not evident when on display.
