I love this cute little antique porcelain Staffordshire pastille burner.
It is a more unusual one, dating to the late Victorian period, and takes the form of a cottage or little detached country house.
As you can see from my photographs, it is in excellent antique condition - it has no damages and is nice and clean inside. The roof and around the side of the little cottage are covered with thick texture clay - which is applied to look like a covering of winter snow. There are some areas of cracking to the snowy coverings - not damages but having occurred naturally in the firing.
There is a little aperture at the back where you would pop in a little scented pastille to add sweet-smelling fragrances to your interior.
It measures roughly 5 inches in height - with a width of 4 1/2 inches and a depth of 3 inches.
The walls of the house are a buff colour - with lots of open windows where the fragrances from the pastille would escape from. It is totally delightful
My price reflects its immaculate condition and the fact that snowy examples of these pastille burners are much harder to find.
It is a genuine old Staffordshire model and not a modern reproduction.
