This is a lovely Scottish St Magnus pendant made in the mid-1970s by Malcolm Gray for Ortak,
The Ortak company was originally founded in the late sixties by Malcolm Gray in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands. The company grew steadily to become one of the UK's leading manufacturers and designers of fine silver and gold jewellery.
The beautiful brooch is in the St Magnus cross design.
It is a nice large size being just over 3.7 cm in diameter. The chain has a total length (end to end) of 22 1/4 inches.
It is nice and shiny in real life - my photos make it look a little dull tone - but rest assured that is is a nice silver sheen.
Marked: Silver on the back and with Malcolm's initials.
Vintage Ortak pieces are now becoming highly collectable.
This pendant comes in a plain black, good quality presentation box, as seen in my photographs.
Very fair price for this lovely Scottish silver designer brooch.
