This is a pretty little Scottish silver pendant made in the mid-1980s, most probably by Malcolm Gray for Ortak, It does not have his initials on the back - but I am assuming that it is a more unusual piece by him.
It has an Edinburgh hallmark for the year 1984 (the letter K).
The Ortak company was originally founded in the late sixties by Malcolm Gray in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands. The company grew steadily to become one of the UK's leading manufacturers and designers of fine silver and gold jewellery.
The beautiful pendant is a simple floral design reminiscent of a daisy. It has a polished onyx or black agate stone in the center (the designer loved using black onyx in his designs at this time). It is nicely set into the silver surround - I have photographed both sides for your inspection.
It measures 3 cm in diameter. The chain is a shorter length - and will not go over your head - you will have to open it was the little ring clasp to put it on. The chain is silver and is 44 cm in length (17 inches).
It is nice and clean, polished, and ready to wear.
Vintage Ortak pieces are now becoming highly collectable.
This pendant comes with its original brown flock Ortak box, as photographed.
This is listed at a very fair price for this lovely Scottish silver designer pendant - it will look so attractive when worn with a summer dress. It will be sent in the UK with Royal Mail Recorded post to you - this will cost £4.95 and applied at the checkout.
