This is a very rare vintage TSB Tivvy Bank in the form of a little Santa Claus.
In excellent condition and comes with its original key. The key is often lost - so great to still have its key - as photographed.
It dates to the late 1960s or very early 1970s.
This bank was presented to young customers at the Trustees Savings Bank to encourage them to save.
This bank is a particularly rare one - as they usually take the form of cartoon crows dressed as footballers. This bank though might have been a special one handed out at Christmas - and he seems to be dressed up as Santa Claus with a red and white tunic, Santa hat - and long Santa beard.
I have only ever seen this one - and he is certainly in such excellent vintage condition being now over 40 years old. He is exceptionally rare... a bank for the specialist collector - and this is reflected in my asking price.
The banks, or so it seems, were made not in Scotland - but in Finland and annotated as a TIVVY FAUNI GONK BANK.
Dimensions: 6 inches in height and 5 inches from the front to back - he is 3 1/2 inches wide.
