This is an adorable vintage piggy bank which dates to the late 1960s or early 1970s.
It has a mark underneath: Made in England - but sadly no other indication who might have made it.
It is a rare survivor and unusual to find one quite so large.
My lovely bank is 9 ¾ inches in length and with a diameter of about 5 inches. 5 ½ inches in height.
Unpacked weight is 820 grams.
The piggy is a bit of a jelly bean shape which isdecorated with incised abstract patterns here and there, mainly along the sides - and this is then all glazed over with a very shiny inky blue glaze. He has four tiny stumpy legs. He has a simple little curly tail at the back.
The bank has a stopper in the base to that you can empty it without having to smash up Mr Piggy.
He is in excellent condition with no damages - and no chipping around the coin slot.
