
This is a fabulous original large 1930s wood engraving by Robert Gibbings (1889 – 1958).
It is titled: Blue Angels and Gorgonias.
It is signed in pencil, in the lower margin.
It is Number 11 out of a limited edition of only 150 impressions.
The image measures 24.3 x 20.4 cm.
The image is a fantastic one made after a diving trip by Gibbings when he was in Bermuda.
A variant was also published as an illustrated plate in his book "Blue Angels and Whales" in 1938.
This does not come from the book - but is an original signed impression. Another impression of this print is in the collection of the Victorian and Albert Museum, London.
This one has not been laid down, the printed sheet is loose and has not been glued down onto a backing board. It has a new cream window mount and will be sold in a simple black framed all ready to hang on your wall.
