This is one of my favourite compacts in my online shop.
This one dates from the 1950s /1960s and is in such beautiful condition.
It is certainly a most glamourous one - and you don't find these that often now.
The lid is "jewel-encrusted" - it is studded all over with a carpet of sapphire-like blue and pale ice-blue glass rhinestones - these are all randomly arranged in different sizes to form an attractive pattern with no gapping. All the "jewels" on the lid are firm with no losses or potential losses. Please have a careful look at all my images.
The compact would be used to contain loose powder. It has never been used - so in "as-new" condition. It has its original oblong-shaped powder sifter in the base - and there is a clean mirror in the lid. As a mark of quality - the little mirror has been made to fit this compact - and has an attractive beveled edge. It has strangely no maker's name on it - I would claim this as my product if I had made it! It has made in France on the catch.
Look at how shiny the base is - it is a very shiny gold tone - with an abstract pattern all over. Not a scratch on it! The sides are plain shiny gold - and also glittering and mark-free.
It is a nice deep size with a good sturdy clasp.
What else to say... its a beauty! tempted to keep it. Please keep it in its little pouch to keep it scratch-free.
Dimensions: 3 inches wide x 2 1/2 inches. The depth is 3/4 inches. (8 x 6.5 x 2 cm).
Postage in the UK will be £4.95 with Royal Mail Recorded post.
