This is a fine vintage 1970s Scottish silver brooch.
It has an indistinct date later on the Edinburgh hallmark on the back - but on the stylistic basis - it must date to the late 1960s or 1970s.
The brooch has the maker's mark on the back: G.F - this is for Glen Kelso Frame. The designer was a jewellery manufacturer trading as Invergyle Jewellery Ltd and subsequently Invergyle Crafts Co. at Carnoustie in Scotland - and then Stranraer.
He dies in 1989.
The brooch is typical of his designs. It is an understated one - consisting of four quatrefoil loos - and the centre inset with an attractive faceted pale yellow Cairngorm stone. I love the claw settings holding the stone in place - looks a little like a crown.
The brooch is 3.5 cm at the widest point.
It will be sent to you in a nice little box - due to the height of the stone in the setting - I would have to pack it in a little box as a parcel - this will cost £4.95 and be applied to your order at checkout stage.
