This is a most unusual late 1960s Italian Space Age Italian Pendant lampshade.
I am not completely sure if the pull-down mechanism is Italian in origin and the shade section is made in the Netherlands - as the Herda light company was quite well known for making similar designs with acrylic double shades.
I hope that you can see the construction of this light from my photographs.
The shade has an internal dark claret-red plastic shade - this is white on the interior - outside of the central section, there is a "double" outer skin - made of a rigid smoke-grey plastic forming a second shade on the outside.
It is a rise and fall light - and has its original tight curled flex, as photographed. It has a shaped chrome metal handle issuing from the bulb holder section. It takes a standard modern bayonet fitting light bulb.
It has a roller fitting (rather like a Rolly retractable pull-down fitment) - where it attaches to your ceiling rose - and this has details of the manufacture of the roller mechanism - which says that it was made in Milan, Italy. There is some old white paint (from a previous painting of the ceiling, I suspect) on the roller fitment. But nothing on the shade.
It is an amazing pendant shade designed to hang from your ceiling - and it is very space-age in design (almost like a flying saucer).
It is in good vintage condition - with no cracks or burn marks on the plastic.
Nice large size. The main body section measures: 8 inches in height. The outer shade is 17 3/4 inches in diameter. The inner shade is 12 1/2 inches. The length of cable is adjustable.
Never seen another one quite like this.
It will cost £10 to sent to you recorded post with Parcelforce - this will be applied to your order at the checkout stage. Sorry - it would have to be UK postng only on this item.
