This is a lovely little vintage handbag or evening bag.
It is a tapestry style bag with a "snake" chain handle - and a gold-tone clasp closure, as photographed.
It dates to about the 1940s - and this would be confirmed by the use of hieroglyphs and Egyptian motifs picked out with engraving and black enamel on the bag frame.
The main body of the bag is black and covered on both side with matching petit point decoration - the stitching is in miniature and in excellent clean condition - the bag has a border running around the sides of the bag, again as photographed.
The interior of the bag is in black taffeta which is totally clean - with no signs of any use - as nice as the day that it was made. There is a little pocket section on the inside - where you could perhaps just store your bank card to use when out and about.
There is no tag in this bag - or any indication of where it was made.
A lovely example - which looks like it has been store away from the day that it was made and never used. Comes from a smoke-free house,
Dimensions of the bag body - is 7 inches in height - the width is 8 1/4. The drop including the handle is 12 1/2 inches.
