This is a fabulous vintage Scottish paperweight made by Caithness Glass - as noted on the etched inscription on the base.
It is entitled, Cauldron Sable.
It was designed by Inne Burns and issued in 1985 as an unlimited edition size.
It is a larger size - and measures 3 1/4 inches in diameter and with a height of about 3 inches.
It is spherical in shape - with a sable-black base contained in the center from which rises a white bubbling foam and a swirling black plume, as you might find bubbling away in a witch's cauldron.
This central decoration is surrounded all throughout the clear dome of the weight with a canopy of controlled air bubbles.
It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
