This little vase comes from my own collection. I have owned it for nearly 30 years - but have been doing a wee shoogle of some things at home.
It is one of two matching vases that I have and have listed on the website - both have sat on my shelf for decades so are in excellent, damage free condition.
Please note that I have shown images of my two vases together - but just so there is no confusion. This listing is for ONE ONLY.
The height of the vase is 4 1/2 inches. The width at the widest point in 4 inches.
My little vase is by Danish ceramic artist Helge Østerberg (1905-1982). It is a matt brown teardrop shape which is enlivened by incised concentric teardrops on the front and back. The incised lines are filled in with a white glaze.
Helge Østerberg established his studio at Virum, near Copenhagen, Denmark in 1943 in the midst of WW2. Østerberg primarily used stoneware mixed with chamotte clay to achieve a textural character, underlined by "primitive" etched decorations and discreet use of glazing on dark matte surfaces.
The vase is fully marked on the base, as photographed.
It will be sent to you with Royal Mail Tracked (Small Parcel). This will be applied to your order at the checkout. Both vases will be sent at the price of the one.
