This is a nice piece of mid century British Whitefriars Glass - a fine display piece for a stylish mid century interior.

It is 8 inches in height (20 cm); and has a diameter of 5 inches (12.8 cm).

The vase is reminiscent of a bucket and has moulded fluted decoration rather like wavy swags, and confined to the interior.

These are not as prominent as in my other similar vase in my shop - so my price is reduced on this one to reflect this. The outside of the vase is smooth - but it you run your hand along the interior; you will find the ripples in the glass.

There is a typical indented Whitefriars polished pontil on the base (as photographed).

This piece features on p. 123 of the Lesley Jackson publication "Whitefriars Glass" - the caption below the image states that this is a: Wave ribbed tumbler vase, shape designed by Marriott Powell, c 1930. Pat No. 8473 - and that the ruby colour appears in catalogues from 1940 - 1970.

This piece is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks - and little signs of wear which you would expect on a piece of glass of this age - indicating that it has been moved about for some decades.

It weights in at 900 grams.

It was rather difficult to photograph - so hope that my images have done this fine piece of glass justice!
