This is a pretty antique perfume bottle. It is very early Edwardian in date - and it is made of ruby glass of an oblong shape - which has been cut into angle facets all around. The interior is nice and clean with no staining from residue perfumes or contents. It also still has its teeny weeny original clear glass stopper inside - these are often lost over the distance of time.
It is a nice size for popping into a lady's handbag so she could top up her fragrance on a night out. It measures 3 1/4 inches in height with a width of 1 1/4 inches and a depth of 3/4 inches. It sits nice and snug in the palm of your hand - and will look great in your collection of old glass perfume bottles.
It is in generally fine condition - but sadly has two tiny chips. The first is on the shoulder - you have to look really hard to spot this and only is obvious when it is caught in the sunlight (I have been able to photograph this). The other is even smaller (I couldnt even photograph it, but could feel it with my finger tip) this is on a facet at the base. These are so minor in nature that I would not let them put you off this pretty antique bottle. I have reduced by price to take this into consideration. It is in fine condition being nearly 125 years old.
The decorative cap opens with a hinge - this is nice and sturdy and closes tightly. The cap is made of silver and it has a Birmingham hallmark for 1902 - so just leaving the Victorian period and into the Edwardian era. The top is nice and shiny with no damages.
