This is an attactive pencil signed screenprint by the British artist, Graham Clarke. It shows an abstracted abstract which is entitled "Behind Shoreham".
Clarke was born in 1941. He was educated at Beckenham Art School, where he fell under the spell of Samuel Palmer’s romantic and visionary views of the Shoreham countryside. At the Royal College of Art he was taught by Edward Bawden and specialised in illustration and printmaking. This bold linocut is typical of his rustic landscapes. The landscape around Shoreham held a particular attraction for Clarke, who describes his discovery of "this little valley of vision".
It is a large size image as you can seen in my photographs. It is in good vintage condition with no tears or stains. The paper Clarke has used to print the image on was not historically of the highest quality - and it has a little time-tone to the sheet. It has a new fresh acid-free windown mount and is all ready just for you to pop into your local framers. It is certainly a most attractive image though.

The screenprint is called "Behind Shoreham" and features a view across a carpet of stylised fields. The form attractive shapes withint the compoistion and there is a woodland in silhouette ion the horizon. A large summer sun hangs low in the sky and bathes the landscape in a warm golden light.
