This is a really lovely original colour etching and aquatint by the artist John Brunsdon (1933 - 2014).
It shows a view of the across fields towards the silhouette of Mount Snowden in Wales. It has been made in etching and colour aquatint.
It is a typically fine work by Brunsdon. The artist had a fascination with the patterns of the fields and trees and the shape of the mountain range seen in the distance. He has concentrated on all the textures that can be seen in the Welsh landscape - and I love his limited palette of ochre, yellow and black colours.
It is signed in pencil, titled and with the edition number in pencil below. There is a little blind stamp mark on the sheet towards the bottom right-hand corner, as photographed.
Dimensions: The image size is 44.5 x 59 cm. Sheet size is 57 x 78 cm,
CONDITION: The sheet is generally nice and clean. There is no fading to the colours. There are a couple of little spots on the reverse - these are not visible on the front of the print.
It was printed on a good quality heavy-wove paper with a John Brunsdon watermark along the bottom margin.
A very subtle print - I hope that my photographs do this lovely work justice. It looks much better in "real life" than in my images.
