This is a rare still-life screenprint by the Scottish artist, Bel Cowie.
It is entitled "Eggs", and is signed and dated February '75. It is from a very small edition of only 16 impressions. This one is editioned No. 11.
Dimensions: The frame size is 65 x 56 cm. The image size is 46.5 x 36 cm.
Bel Cowie was born in 1943 in Dundee. She was a painter in oil but is probably best known for her screenprints. Cowie trained at Gray's School of Art and Ceramische Fachschule, Berne.
Her work often reveals her fascination with Japanese prints and weaving designs. There is always a gentle delicacy in her work.
Bel Cowie exhibited regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh between 1974 and 1982. Examples of her work are in the Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museum.
She died suddenly in tragic circumstances in 1983 at the early age of 40. Works by her are now very hard to find and most collectable.
The artwork has recently been professionally reframed in a good quality white-grey wooden frame and with a new conservation quality ivory card window mount. The cost to have newly framed was over £100. It is beautifully presented and ready for you to just hang straight onto your wall. The screenprint has been listed at £220.
