This is such a novelty book. It dates to 1890 - 1893. It has 384 pages containing some 13,000 words. The text is set in 1-1/2 pt type. It can certainly be considered a masterpiece of Victorian miniature printing.
It is a teeny weeny dictionary entitled on the titlepage "The Smallest English Dictorian in the World". It was publish by David Bryce and Son in Glasgow. Opposite the title page is a tiny image of the lexicographer, Samuel Johnson.
The case is in good condition. It is one of two of these little books that I have listed. This one has its original hanging ring on the case - my other one is lacking it. I have taken images of them side by side as my last photograph on my listing.
The book is in excellent condition with a cover of thin dark red leather with gold lettering on the front "BRYCE'S ENGLISH DICTIONARY" and on the spine " ENGLISH DICTIONARY", on the back is the word "PEARS". All pages are present and there is a little pen inscription on the flyleaf. J. Wallace / 184 G. King St / City.
The little book comes in a protective metal case - with a tiny glass viewing window (or magnifying glass, intact) on the front. There is embossed lettering on the metal cover: The Smallest Dictionary in the World with Magnifying Glass. t is hinged on the side. The inside is still nice and shiny. On the back is an image is a view of an old fashioned private library with a world globe resting on a pile of books. The case measures 3.5 cm in height and 2.8 cm wide. It is a cm in depth.
The little book will be sent to you in a sturdy box. It would have to be sent as a small parcel with tracking with the Royal Mail.
