This is a vintage early 1950s print by CC Beall. It is a very attractive one of a pretty Japanese lady - and comes from a small series of four works that the artist produced and called Japanese Girls. This one is entitled Bunch of Flowers. The other ones in the series show ladies holding large fans - this one is more unusual with the subject shown with a posy of flowers.
Please note that this is NOT a modern giclee reproductive print - but an original printed work from the 1950s and comes in its original period frame. There is a label on the back of the frame giving issue details and saying that this one was retailed or supplied by Blanshard Products of Croydon, London. This company was founded in 1954 - and was involved in the production and supply of office and shop furniture and fittings. This print has the Blanshard stock number noted on it on the label (BP 909).
The style of this rare Beall work is reminiscent of similar pictures of glamourous Oriental ladies made around the same time by Vladimir Tretchikoff. These Beall prints were issued in the 1940s and first published in the UK in the early 1950s. They tend to be much rarer than his fellow artist, Tretchikoff that were more widely reproduced. These particular prints were only published for a short time in the 50s - and this makes them now very hard to find.
The rarity of original examples is reflected in my asking price.
BIOGRAPHY: Cecil Calvert Beall (1892 - 1970) was a well-known American illustrator and portrait artist during the 1930s and 40s. He produced art and drawings for magazines and comic books. His works were regularly featured in Saturday Evening Post and Collier's - where he produced a series of cover illustrations depicting World War II heroes. He was also the Art Director for the National Democratic Party during President Roosevelt's administration.
CONDITION: The print is in good vintage condition - with no signs of fading or discolouration. It comes with its original 1950s cream-coloured textured wooden frame (as photographed). It would be ready for you just to hang on your wall. The glass has been rather reflective - so I have had some reflections etc when taking my images - these are not on the print.
DIMENSIONS: It is a nice more compact size which is ideal for modern interiors. It is under its original glass - to keep it nice and clean. The frame size is 40 x 32.5 cm. The image size is 34 x 26 cm. The depth of the frame is about an inch.
This print will be carefully packed and sent to you with Parcelforce 24 - tracked and insured in transit. This will cost £10 and will be applied to your order at the checkout stage.
